Meet Michelle Williams, she is a Product Manager for Macy’s Inc. living in New York City. Her career in fashion and tech was inspired by her desperate search to find an outlet that satisfied both her creative and analytical interests. She attended Cornell University to study business, and participated in a competitive summer internship program at PVH (the Parent Company to Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, and a host of other worldwide brands) which truly jump started her career.
At PVH, she worked directly under Ken Wyse, the President of Licensing and Public Relations, identifying white space opportunities in retail and various ways to address them in the US and abroad. After graduating, Michelle worked as a Buyer at Amazon and Macy’s, before landing her current role managing a product development team responsible for bringing several multi-million dollar brands to fruition.
Five years ago, she wishes she knew that 'it is OK to demand a seat at the table - our voices deserve to be heard!' She believes encouraging women and students to explore careers in the fashion and tech space is important because this is an industry that touches everyone, whether you want it to or not, which makes representation so critical. Outside of her normal day-to-day, you can find her working on various retail app concepts and fashion/tech content with friends in the industry. Stay tuned for updates and info on her work in the near future, and follow her @_cocomichelle to learn more!
